For our tour in the Sagittarius Valley, we will start from the province of Pescara heading towards the heart of the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise, a natural reserve that is home to a rich and breathtaking landscapes. Our first stop will be Villalago, an enchanting village known for its ancient hermitage, a refuge of peace and spirituality perched on the rocks above the lake.
After Villalago, we will move to Lake Scanno, a natural jewel surrounded by dense forests and majestic mountains. Here we will visit the church of the Madonna del Lago, a fascinating place of worship that directly overlooks the serene waters of the lake, offering an unparalleled panorama. We will also have the opportunity to walk along the banks of the lake, a perfect time to enjoy the tranquility and natural beauty of the area.
In the afternoon, we will reach the village of Scanno, frequently cited among the most beautiful in Italy. We will explore its historic center, known as the "doughnut", where time seems to have stopped. We will walk through narrow paved streets, discovering ancient goldsmith workshops that produce traditional filigree jewellery, historic buildings and churches rich in art and history. During the tour, you will not miss the opportunity to taste typical Scanno desserts, such as the famous confetti and pizzelle, which will delight the palate with the flavors of traditional Abruzzo.
This itinerary not only offers an immersion in the nature and culture of the Sagittarius Valley but also promises an authentic and unforgettable experience that combines history, tradition and unique natural landscapes.
First Stop: Villalago: here we will visit the Hermitage of San Domenico guarding the Sagittario Gorges.
Second Stop: Scanno Lake we will visit the church of the Madonna del Lago, we will walk on the banks of the lake.
Third Stop: Scanno, famous for its goldsmith's art, the typical costume of Scanno women, the "catenaccio", immortalized by the famous photographer Cartier Bresson. In the small village we will cross the "donut", which is the main route of the historic center, where we will find the Church of Santa Maria della Valle, the Church of San Giovanni.
